FAQs

The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) is the worldwide professional body for experts in the fields of trusts and estates.

By instructing a STEP qualified lawyer to advise on your private client matter (such as your will, trust, estate planning, probate etc.), you are ensuring that your advisor has met the academically rigorous requirements of obtaining the full STEP qualification. You are also ensuring that your solicitor continues to undertake Continuing Professional Development in private client practice which is a membership requirement. Consequently holding the STEP qualification is very much respected by financial advisors, accountants and other solicitors, who will tend to look for this qualification before recommending an advisor to a client.

At Harvey Associates our Practice Director Graham Harvey BA TEP Solicitor is a fully qualified member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Yes we see local clients in Belgravia and in Central London during the working week and we often meet clients at their homes, places of work or at the offices of their other professional advisors.

We also regularly hold meetings outside of central London and we are prepared to travel within the Home Counties or in some cases further afield. However we do generally prefer to see clients outside of our usual office hours unless there is a particular emergency. This means that it is not uncommon for us to hold evening meetings and also on a weekend morning too. We want to be flexible as we very much understand that not all clients can travel and sometimes it makes more sense for other attendees if we travel rather than them.

We will hold an initial exploratory meeting where we will identify the work that needs to be undertaken and provide an estimate of costs.

We charge on a fixed fee or hourly rate basis depending upon the type of work undertaken and the specifics of the matter.

Yes we have a secure external storage facility for client documents. At present we provide this as a complimentary service at our discretion.

Yes we have lots of experience dealing with very elderly people and we believe that we are sensitive to their particular requirements.

We can only accept instructions directly from your parents, so if they would like to instruct us, please ask them to write in, telephone or email. You are welcome to call us to discuss further.

Yes we do although we never insist. Our Practice Director Graham Harvey BA TEP Solicitor is appointed as an executor, trustee and attorney for many of his clients.
